Feb 16, 2010 in Awesome!, Pictures, Random

wpid-2010-02-16-12.50.30.jpg

Spotted this awesome graffiti near 6th and Green on the U of I campus today. The best part is that someone else drew an arrow pointing to it with the words “LOVE IT!” I concur.

Boneyard Arts Festival

Feb 13, 2009 in Adventures, Artwork, Awesome!, Entertainment, Local, The Future, Victory!

Mimi and I are officially WAY into this festival now. What started off as volunteering to work on the committee has now spun out of control. Whilst we’re going to be insanely busy until the end of April (at least), it should turn out to be incredibly fruitful. Our boss, the AWESOME Jeff Mellander, has offered to allow us temporary access to the currently unoccupied 17 Taylor Street (previously Verde Cafe and Gallery/ Jennifer North). We’ll be displaying a little of our own art, and we’re inviting a bunch of local “alternative” artists and musicians to join in. There will be paintings, photos, wood burning, henna, live music and DJs, and maybe even a bad ass custom motorcycle to boot!
Clear your calendars and plan on attending our opening day Thursday April 16th! Festival starts at noon, and we hope to be open until 11 or midnight. More details to come as we continue our planning.

There are two things I love about this conversation:
1) My ability to spell nothing correctly save for “I can’t type for shit today.”
B) I can’t count.

Look Ma’ That’s Me!

Jun 26, 2008 in Artwork, Awesome!

I got a write up in The Buzz (for those of you that don’t know, it’s a local free publication) this week for showing my work at the Taste of Champaign this past weekend:

New Artists
Seeing artists like Rebecca Reid of Art Beco and Craig Downen of Steel Canvas really taking charge and trying to make a living at what they do was beyond cool. These artists took a gamble by putting themselves out there, and I think it paid off.

Well, Mister Matthew Strong, author of said art review column… it DID pay off. Thanks, man!

Early Announcement

Jun 26, 2008 in Adventures, Awesome!, The Future

Mimi and I were discussing Halloween plans today and we have tentatively come up with the idea of having a shindig at my house. This is a good year for it, especially, since it happens to fall on a Friday. We even know the theme! MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH! Hurray for Edgar Allen Poe, every girl has to have her first love… sometimes they just happen to be deceased, creepy men with greatly horrifying literary works.

If I can pull this off, this might be my best party evar.
If you’re not hip to the Masque of the Red Death, I found a free version on the iTunes Store that you can listen to the short story… Who reads anymore these days… in fact, what are you doing still reading this? Who am I typing this for?!?

Mark your calendars and prepare yourself for frightening good times.

Snakes in the Garden

May 17, 2008 in Adventures, Animals, Awesome!, Pictures

Found these guys in the garden. At the time I was trimming this rose bush. Upon discovery expletives were said… then I ran and got my camera. These guys form a virtual moat around my house every year. It makes me feel safer.

A coworker sent me a link to Joshua Hoffine’s AWESOME art portfolio, he figured I’d like it… which, of course, I do. Now I’m just trying to figure out what that says about me. Anyway, check it out because not only does it rock, but it’ll give your children nightmares!
